Clayton County Register, 13 Oct. 1937.
MONONA: Donald Francis Klinkel was born near Rossville, Oct. 25, 1896, and grew to manhood on the Klinkel farm, south of Monona, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Harold F. Moon.
He was a graduate of the local high school, class of 1914, and clerked in the C. J. Orr clothing store. He was married to Miss Irma Klinge in 1921, and they were the parents of one daughter, aged seven, Anita Klinkel. In 1926, Mr. Klinkel entered into a partnership with Mr. Brown in West Union, and they conducted a clothing store until a fire destroyed their business. He then started a clothing store at Winfield, which he later sold, and moved to Waukon, where he was also in the clothing business, which he sold this fall because of failing health. His sudden death occurred in Chicago, where he had sought medical aid.
Surviving Mr. Klinkel are the widow, Mrs. Irma Klinkel, and one daughter, Anita Klinkel, and one brother, Harold C. Klinkel. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Klinkel, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at two o'clock last week Wednesday afternoon from the local funeral home, with burial in the city cemetery. Services were conducted by the Rev. H. W. Siefkes, pastor of the local Lutheran church.
The community extends its sympathy to Mrs. Klinkel and daughter Anita and the brother, Harold C. Klinkel
