STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Albert Schmidt were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. M. Grant, pastor of the local Methodist church. The pallbearers were: Mike Fagan of Winthrop, Wm. Jessen, E. J. Opperman, Louie Gamm, Wm. Haufle and Peter De Witte. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Albert Fredrick Schmidt, eldest son of Fredrick and Augusta Schmidt, was born on a farm in Fayette county, Iowa, seven miles southwest of Strawberry Point, on Jan. 16, 1863, and died at his home here Monday noon, from a heart attack. All except five years of his life were spent in this vicinity, and they were spent at Merrill, Wis., where he was united in marriage to Matilda Schulte on May 17, 1891. To this union eight children were born, two of which have preceded him in death, Frances and Elmer.
For the past four years he had been confined to his bed. Besides his wife, he is survived by the six children: Mrs. Wm. (Mabel) Sides, of Des Moines, Arthur Schmidt of Delhi, Robert Schmidt of Strawberry Point, Miss Edith Schmidt, Mrs. Edna Parker and Francis Schmidt, all of Chicago; fourteen grandchildren, and one sister and one brother, Mrs. Howard Bowman of Strawberry Point, and George Schmidt of Iowa City.
