STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Francis V. Balluff of Lansing were held at the local Methodist church Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. James P. Gable, assisted by the Rev. Geo. McFarland, a close friend of the deceased, of Oelwein. Mrs. B. W. Talcott and Mrs. Kenneth Esch sang two duets with Mrs. H. H. Hofer playing the accompaniment. Six nephews were pallbearers. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Francis V. Balluff, son of Victor and Mary Balluff, was born in Strawberry Point, Iowa, on Oct. 21, 1872, and passed away at the St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., Tuesday evening. Most of his life was spent in and around here. He was united in marriage to Clara Laity on Dec. 16, 1896. Mrs. Balluff died Jan. 11, 1905. He was again united in marriage to Dorothy Laity of Kansas City on Oct. 21, 1908. To this union two children were born. Last March he moved to Lansing and he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered. For a number of years he conducted a livery here.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Lucille) Hadley of Malvern, and one son, Victor Balluff, of Lansing; six sisters: Mrs. Amelia Evert, Oelwein; Mrs. Eleanor Evert, Lamont; Mrs. Jeannette Shields, Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Eva Meyer, Armour, S.D.; Mrs. Nettie Wiltse and Miss Gertrude Balluff, Strawberry Point., and two grandchildren.
