STRAWBERRY POINT: Burial services for Jay M. Pollard of Waterloo, a former resident, were held here Sunday afternoon. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave.
Jay M. Pollard, son of the late Walker and Sarah Pollard, was born at Strawberry Point, Iowa, on Sept. 12, 1874, and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Maude Hady, at Waterloo, Thursday, from a heart attack. He attended and graduated the local public school in 1893. He was united in marriage to Theodosia Andrews in Strawberry Point, July 23, 1902. Mr. Pollard for a number of years was cashier of the Strawberry Point State Bank. Later they moved to Stayton, Ore., then to South Dakota and to Faribault, Minn., and for the last seven years the home has been made at Pipestone, Minn., where Mr. Pollard was auditor for the Renaux ice cream company until ill health compelled him to resign and they moved to Waterloo last May. The deceased was a member of Lodge No. 130, A.F. & A.M. and of the Eastern Star chapter No. 86 in Strawberry Point.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert A. Pollard, of Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. James, (Gene) Bennett of Marquette, Mich., and Mrs. J. W. (Mary) Sullivan, of Hanover, Ill., also two sisters, Mrs. Maude Hady and Miss Grace Pollard, both of Waterloo, and three grandchildren.
