Clayton County Register, 28 July 1937.
Volga: Eileen Iowa Quinn, youngest daughter of Mrs. Katherin Quinn and the late Laurence Quinn was born at Volga City, October 09, 1909 and died Wednesday, July 21, 1937 at the hospital at Iowa City at the age of 27 years.
She attended the public schools and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church where she was always willing to give her services when health would permit her to. The death of this young lady, in the very prime of life, has stricken another name from the roll of the younger generation of our community. Iowa was always very good natured and friendly to everyone.
The funeral was held from the home of her aunt, Mrs. Agnes Meyer, at Elkader to St. Joseph's church on Saturday morning, July 24, at 9:30 o'clock, where a Requiem High Mass was celebrated by the Very Rev. J. P. Taken. A few words of sympathy were expressed by Rev. D. P. Cregan at the close of the service.
Following the Requiem High Mass the cortege wended its way to Sacred Heart cemetery at Volga City where the last rites were performed.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Katherine Quinn, her twin brother Jack and Luke, all of Elkader and Leonard of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Quinn and two sisters, Kathleen who died in infancy and Mrs. John (Agnes) Leahy.
The casket bearers were Niel O'Brien, Volga, Gene O'Brien, Cedar Rapids, Edward Quinn, Strawberry Point, John Quinn, Dubuque, John and Joseph Meyer, Elkader, all cousins of the deceased.
We join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. Among the relatives attending the funeral, from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. A. V. O'Brien, son Gene, Cedar Rapids, John Quinn, Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hanlon, Oelwein, and Leonard Quinn of Iowa City.
