Clayton County Register, 23 June 1937.

Charles Busse, 60 years old, a resident of Rowley, was fatally injured at Pike's Peake, McGregor last Sunday afternoon when he slipped and fell more than 100 feet over a cliff as he was going down one of the canyon trails there.

Busse suffered a double fracture of the skull and fractures of a leg and arm. The injured man was carried down the canyon and taken to the McGregor hospital but he died a few minutes before reaching there.

The unfortunate victim was a large man and visitors at the park who came to his rescue had great difficulty in getting him out of the canyon. Busse, it is said was a single man.
