GUTTENBERG: Ernst Enderes was born on a farm near Communia, Clayton county, Iowa, on March 09, 1861, where he grew to manhood. Later he served an apprenticeship in learning the blacksmith's trade, and for many years operated a blacksmith shop and tool factory at Littleport. He was the inventor of the original Enderes tools. Previous to coming to Guttenberg, Mr. Enderes was engaged in business at Albert Lea, Minn., for a number of years in the manufacture of the original Enderes tools. Since a resident of Guttenberg, he has been president of his company here since its organization. He was married at Elkader in 1882 to Miss Louise Hupp, of Lansing, who preceded him in death three years ago.
His death is deeply mourned by one son, J. W. Enderes, of Guttenberg; two daughters, Mrs. George Ruegnitz of Volga township and Mrs. Seymour Latteyer of Guttenberg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Mr. Enderes' late home here Tuesday afternoon, with interment in the City cemetery.
(Note: Mr. Enderes died as the result of injuries received in an auto accident, a complete account of which appears on pg. 01 of this issue of this newspaper.)
