Clayton County Register, 16 June 1937.

STRAWBERRY POINT: Word was received here Friday from Thompson, Iowa, of the death of Howard Lathrop, formerly of this place. Mr. Lathrop was employed in the grain elevator and was found in the woods, shot, about five hours after the accident occurred. Funeral services will be held at Thompson, after which the remains will be brought here for burial Sunday afternoon, with short services at the grave.

He is survived by his wife, formerly Verda Clements of Edgewood; his father, Lloyd Lathrop, Sr.; one sister, Mrs. Cora Beneke, of Cedar Rapids, and one brother, Lloyd Lathrop, Jr., of Quincy, Ill.
