Clayton County Register, 14 Apr. 1937.

Monona: Mrs. Minnie Meyer Splies, aged 78, died at nine o'clock Sunday morning in her home here, after an illness of a week's duration. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the First Methodist church at 1:45, with the pastor, The Rev. George W. Turner, officiating, and burial was made in the city cemetery beside her husband.

Mrs. Splies was a quiet, home-loving woman,, a true member of her church, and a good neighbor. She was always willing to assist her neighbors in illness or any time. She loved flowers and always had a wonderful garden, and her daughter, Miss Cora Splies, who lived with her mother, helped make the Splies garden one which the town could well feel proud of. Mrs. Slies was unusually happy when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit her. Her influence will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Surviving Mrs. Splies are two daughters, Mrs. William Hubacher and Miss Cora Splies, both of Monona; two grandchildren, Howard Hubacher of Monona and Mrs. Charlotte Otis of Earlville, and six great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death about ten years ago. Four brothers and three sisters also survive her.

The sympathy of the community is extended the daughters in the loss of their mother.
