GUTTENBERG: Mrs. Fred Hedeman (nee Marcia Jenkins) died at her home in Guttenberg Saturday afternoon at the age of 76 years, three months and 22 days, following a short illness.
Mrs. Hedeman was born at Garnavillo, Iowa, December 18, 1860, where she grew to womanhood and received her education. On March 26, 1878, she was married at National to Mr. Fred Hedeman. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm in Clayton township, retiring a number of years ago and coming to Guttenberg to make their home, where deceased spent the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Hedeman was a woman if a kind and loving disposition, which won her many friends during life, by whom her memories will forever be cherished. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Lutheran church here. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Emil Ihm and Mrs. Edna Scholz, of Guttenberg; Mrs. Lud Lingrain of Wheatridge, Colo., and Mrs. Ernst Geuder of Quincy, Ill.; one son, Elmer Hedeman of Clayton township; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul's United Lutheran church here Tuesday afternoon, with interment in the city cemetery. The Rev. C. A. Jacobi and the Rev. D. D. Welch conducting the funeral services.
(Note: One daughter was not named in the article. Another possibility is that she had five children total. Researchers will need to verify.)
