Mrs. Verna Clara Gunderson died at Ladysmith, Wis., Saturday, April 03, from peritonitis after an illness of six months.
Verna Clara Talley was born in LaCrosse, Wis., March 13, 1890, and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Talley, to Elkader in the year 1901. Since 1924 she had lived in Ladysmith.
In 1913, at Mason City, she was united in marriage to E. O. Gunderson, who, together with one son, Robert, survive. Other survivors are two brothers, Atwell Talley of Des Moines, and Ray Talley of Sioux City, and one sister, Mrs. Ada Bandow of Elkader.
The deceased was a graduate of the Elkader high school with the class of 1908 and was affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services were held at the Bandow home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, and interment was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. Noyes O. Bartholomew officiating. Casket bearers were W. C. Dittmer, H. J. Conrad, G. J. Graf, Dr. R. L. Morse, E. C. Fitzpatrick and C. L. Reinecke.
Mrs. Gunderson had a host of friends here in Elkader, where she lived many years, and they, together with the surviving relatives, mourn this untimely death.
