Clayton County Register, 31 March 1937.

GUTTENBERG: Emil A. Wolf, formerly of Guttenberg, but of late years a resident of Muscatine, died at Muscatine Tuesday night of last week at the age of 53 years, nine months and 22 days. He had been in poor health for some time previous to his death caused by a cerebral hemmorhage. Mr. wolf was born in Guttenberg, Iowa, on May 31, 1883, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wolf, Sr., where he grew to young manhood. He received his education in the Guttenberg public schools. When a young man he served an apprenticeship in learning the printer's trade in the office of the Guttenberg Press, which trade he followed for a number of years, at one time being employed by the Muschewske Brothers on the Guttenberg Press, and also on the Clayton County Journal, a former weekly newspaper published here by the Guttenberg Printing Co. He also served as a volunteer in the U.S. army for three years. Mr. Wolf also served an apprenticeship in learning the button worker's trade, and since a resident of Muscatine he was employed as a button worker in a button factory.

While a resident of Guttenberg, he was a member of the Guttenberg band. He was faithful whenever engaged in employment, and in his death another printer of the old guard has made his last trip to the type case, and another pioneer button worker has operated the lever on a button machine for the last time. He is survived by his parents; two brothers, George Wolf of Canton, Mo. and Clarence Wolf of St. Ansgar; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Bechler of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Edna Siesow of Milwaukee, Wis.; and many other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. One sister, Mrs. Lillian Plagman, preceded him in death several months ago. The body was brought to the home of his parents in Guttenberg on Thursday morning. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. A. Jacobi, pastor of St. Paul's United Lutheran church, at the Fred Wolf Sr. home here, Saturday afternoon, with interment in the City cemetery.
