Clayton County Register, 10 March 1937.
MONONA: Funeral services for Mrs. John H. Schroeder, aged 81, were held at 10:45 from her home Monday morning, with the Rev. H. W. Siefkes officiating, and burial was made in the city cemetery.
Surviving are her two sons, Rudolph J. Schroeder and Henry J. Schroeder, and five daughters, Mrs. Minnie Lembke, who lived with her, Mrs. Orville H. Wirkler, Mrs. Rudolph Garms, Mrs. John Luepker and Mrs. Walter Duwe, all of Monona; and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Aulwes of Guttenberg and Mrs. Sophia Lange of Hamilton, Ohio. Her husband and one daughter, Miss Catherine Schroeder, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schroeder was a faithful member of her church, and the fine family Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder raised is an attribute to her high character. A good pioneer and a home-loving, God-fearing woman has passed to her reward. The sympathy of the community is extended the children in their loss.
