Strawberry Point: Funeral services for John Eder were held Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. Max O. Jahr. Burial was in the family lot at St. Sebald cemetery. John Eder, son of Michael and Elizabeth Eder, was born near Strawberry Point June 26, 1857, and died at the home of his daughter, Mr. Chris Otterbeck, eight miles southwest of Strawberry Point, Tuesday, after an illness of several months. In 1889 he was united in marriage to Anna Mueller, who preceded him in death 45 years ago. The home was made on a farm until 1909 when Mr. Eder and his children came to town, where he has since resided. The deceased was an earnest worker and member of the Lutheran church. Several years ago he had the misfortune to break his hip, from which he never fully recovered. Surviving are one son, George Eder, of Royalton, Wis., and one daughter, Mrs. Chris (Gusta) Otterbeck of Strawberry Point; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, as follows: Mrs. Ludwig Schmidt, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Albert Epp_er, Dubuque; Mrs. Emma Lee, Cedar Rapids; George Eder, Rock Rapids and Mike Eder, Strawberry Point. His work is done, but may his good deeds keep even in our minds an example for us all to follow.
