Strawberry Point: Funeral services for Mrs. R. W. Schug were held at the Congregational church Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Carrie V. Lucas. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Martha Pfranger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Pfranger, was born in Fayette county, Oct. 12, 1870, and died at her home Wednesday morning. On Nov. 17, 1897, she was united in marriage to Rudolph W. Schug, at Strawberry Point by Rev. G. Graf, then pastor of the Emanuel's Lutheran church. Mrs. Schug was a member of the local Lutheran church and at the time of her death was president of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of the W.R.C., the Fortnightly club, the Strawberry Point Garden club, and took an active interest in the Red Cross work. During the World War she was an earnest worker, doing her part for the boys "Over There." Whenever and wherever help was needed she was always there. She assisted in the local post office when her husband was postmaster and later served as postmaster.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harold N. (Genevieve) Anderson, of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Lena) Niehaus of Strawberry Point, and one brother, Theodore Pfranger of Belmont, Mont., besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
