Clayton County Register, 20 Jan. 1937.
MONONA: Mrs. Jacob J. Tayek, aged 51, died very suddenly Wednesday morning after an illness of less than a week's duration. The family and the entire community were shocked at the death of this good woman, and all sympathize and mourn.
Surviving are her husband, J. J. Tayek, one daughter, Miss Harriett Todd, who attends college in Cedar Falls, and one son, John Todd of Los Angeles, Calif.; two step-sons, Reuben Tayek of Chicago, and Robert Tayek at home; also her bereaved parents, Mr. and Mrs. O'Connell, of Marquette; two sisters and one brother.
Rev. Father Luke Donlon read the mass of requiem Monday morning at nine o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Monona, and burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery at McGregor, beside her first husband.
Mrs. Tayek was a faithful member of the Catholic church, and a willing worker in the Rosary confraternity. She was loved by all who knew her. She was an unusual mother, as her children and step-son will testify. The many friends join in sympathizing with the family in their great loss.
