Mrs. Anna Allert, 88, died at her home in Giard after a weeks' illness of pneumonia, Monday, Jan. 04th. Funeral services were held Thursday morning in the Methodist church in Giard, Rev. Melvin Melcher officiating. Burial was made in the Giard cemetery.

Mrs. Allert was born in Germany April 17, 1848, and came to America when a young child, settling in Clayton county and making this her home since, on a farm near Giard. Her husband died ten years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Ben Witter, two years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mathilda Allert, who lived with her mother, and five sons, W. F. Allert of McGregor, Herman and George of Giard, Carl of Decorah, and Edward of Monona.
