Monona: Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Olmsted, 82, were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 07, at the Methodist church in Monona, with Rev. J. B. Bird of Grundy Center, a former pastor at Monona, officiating. Burial was in the Monona cemetery.
Ada MacCormack was born in New York, Jan. 06, 1854, the daughter of a Methodist preacher, Rev. W. E. MacCormack. The family moved to Clayton county, Iowa, when she was about a year old, the father servicing several churches in this county. She attended Cornell college and graduated in music there, later teaching music and languages at Albion Seminary. On Dec.15, 1880, she was married to Phineas Page Olmsted of Monona, and for many years they lived on a farm near Monona. Her husband died in 1902 and since then she has made her home with her children. She is survived by six children, W. P. Olmsted of Mayville, N.D., R. M. Olmsted of Gays Mills, Wis., P. L. Olmsted of Two Rivers, Nebr., Mrs. D. G. Coryell of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Orell Klotzbach of Froelich, and David Olmsted of Giard. There are 15 grandchildren surviving her, and one sister, Mrs. D. G. Blackman, of Los Angeles, Calif.
