Amel Kersten, 69, Died At McGregor Last Week.
McGregor: Funeral services for Amel Kersten, 69, were held at the home of his son, Larry Kersten, of Pleasant Ridge, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. S. F. Kenderdine officiating.
Mr. Kersten was born in Manchester, Wis., May 20, 1867. He was married to Lula Walters at Fall Creek, Wis., Dec. 11, 1890, and soon afterward moved to McGregor, where he had lived ever since. Until 13 years ago he lived on a farm north of town, later moving to town, until his health failed about two years ago. He then returned to his farm and made his home with his son until his death. Mrs. Kersten died in 1926. Six children were born to them, three of them having died. He is survived by his son Lawrence and two daughters, Mrs. Homer Foster and Mrs. Ward Ferguson, all three children living on farms on Pleasant Ridge. He is also survived by three brothers, Fred of McGregor, August of Russell, N.Dak., and William of Fall Creek, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Brueswitz of Eau Claire, Wis., and Mrs. George Schwartz of Missoula, Mont. Two sisters have recently died, Mrs. Albert Steike of Mendota, Wis, two months ago, and Mrs. Herbert Swanke of Missoula, Mont., two weeks ago.
Mr. Kersten was buried in the Council Hill cemetery of Pleasant Ridge.
