Clayton County Register, 06 Jan. 1937. McGregor column.
William Minney, 71, died at his home Christmas Day, after a year of failing health. Funeral services were held at his home Sunday, Rev. J. F. Parsons officiating, burial being made in Pleasant Grove cemetery. A little over a year ago his twin brother, Wilbur, died. They celebrated their 70th birthday in January, 1935. The twins were born in Elizabethtown, N.Y., Jan. 27, 1865, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Minney. When they were three years old they moved to Clinton, Iowa, and then by boat to McGregor. Their father, a Civil War veteran, was constable and night watch here for years. He was a blacksmith by trade. The boys attended school here and at North McGregor. As young men they began work on the railroad. They saw most of the United States, braking for many roads before they retired. Both held memberships in the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen organization for 25 years' service. William's health has failed ever since the death of Wilbur. For several years their nephew, Dewey Minney, has lived with them, caring for William during his last illness. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. L. Johnson, of Chicago, and a brother, Fred, of Cincinatti, Ohio, who visited here recently. Three other sisters and three other brothers preceded him in death.
