Clayton County Register, 06 Jan. 1937.

Charles H. Lange, a life-long citizen of Clayton county, died January first at his home near Mederville at the age of 64 years, eight months and 15 days.

He was born April 16, 1872, in Cox Creek township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lange. On January 16, 1901, in Elk township he was united in marriage with Minnie Ortman, and to this union five children were born.

Mr. Lange was a respected citizen, held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was quiet and unassuming, and spent most of his time at his chosen vocation and with his family. Two years ago he began to fail in health. During that time he was confined to his home from time to time. At times he regained his strength enough to be up and around to attend to his farm work. Medical advice and aid was sought, but in the end this proved to avail nothing.

He was a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star orders here in Elkader, a member of the Consistory of Clinton, and a member of the Royal Neighbors.

The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his wife and the following children: Mrs. Luella Regan, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Ruey Kahrs, Elkader; Mrs. Ruby Kunzman, Dubuque; Milton and Leland at home. There are also two sisters and two brothers surviving, as follows: Mrs. Laura Reicher, Littleport; Mrs. Mayme Mentzel, Elkader; Ray Lange, Cedar Rapids, and Hugo Lange, Los Angeles, Calif., besides two grandchildren, Marlen and Marvin Kahrs, and a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the late home and in the Friedens Evangelical church here, with burial in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating at the house and church and the Masons at the grave.
