GUTTENBERG: John Frye, long time resident of this community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Brown, in Jefferson township, on last Wednesday night, at the age of 72 years, following a short illness. Mr. Frye was born in the state of Wisconsin in April, 1864. A number of years ago he came to Clayton county, Iowa. For many years he was engaged in farming in this community. His wife preceded him in death in July, 1936. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ben Jost of Clayton, Mrs. John Brown of Jefferson township, and Mrs. William Kitto of Potosi, Wis.; one son, Ed Frye, of Jefferson township; a number of grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Rademacher, of Guttenberg; one brother, Peter Frye, of Clayton township; and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss him. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Jacobi.
