GUTTENBERG: S. C. Darrow, 87 years old, a former long-time resident of Clayton county, died at the home of his son, N. C. Darrow, at Cedar Rapids, on Saturday morning at 9:20 o'clock, the cause of death being mostly due to the infirmities of old age. Mr. Darrow was born at Astabula, Ohio, on Aug. 13, 1849. When a child, he came with his parents and settled at Elkport, where he resided for many years. Of late years he had been making his home with his son at Cedar Rapids.

His wife, whose maiden name was Eliza Hannah Knox, preceded him in death two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Darrow were married at Manchester in 1870. He is survived by one son, N. C. Darrow, of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial Monday afternoon, and laid to rest in the city cemetery. The Rev. Kramer, pastor of the Sinclair Presbyterian church of Cedar Rapids, officiated at the funeral.
