STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Simek were held at St. Mary's church Saturday morning, conducted by the Rev. P. J. Boyle. Interment was made in St. Albert's cemetery, south of Strawberry Point. The four sons acted as pallbearers.
Barbara Anna Cicha, daughter of Matthew and Anna Cicha, was born in Bohemia, Feb. 10, 1851, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Barbara Kibby, Wednesday evening. In 1869, she was married to John Simek. They came to the United States in 1880 and settled on a farm south of Strawberry Point, where they lived for 55 years. Mr. Simek died March 19, 1925. Mrs. Simek and her son Jack remained on the farm until four years ago when Mrs. Simek fell and broke her hip, compelling her to leave the farm to be cared for by her children, she being confined to her chair since that time. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. William (Barbara) Kibby, Mrs. William (Marie) Struckman, Mrs. Ray (Anna) Dunsmore, Mrs. C. E. (Rose) Lang, and Jack Simek, all of Strawberry Point; Joe Simek of Clermont, Frank Simek of Jordan, Minn., and Charles Simek of Fullerton, N. D.; also 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
