George Yohe, aged 43 years, died Monday afternoon from internal injuries suffered when his chest was crushed by a power bucket while he was employed in the Langworthy sand pit south of Clayton.

Yohe had been a resident of Clayton for 25 years. He was formerly cashier of the Clayton Savings Bank and for several years was a telegrapher for the Milwaukee railroad.

He is survived by his wife and six children, who have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

George Phillip Yohe was born at Reno, Minn., on May 2_, 1889, and died Dec. 21. Death was caused by injuries suffered when a power bucket crushed his chest.

He was married on June 29, 1910, to Elsie Luther, who survives him with six children. Mr. and Mrs. Yohe celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in June, 1935.

Eight children blessed this union, Virgil and Marcella having preceded him in death, Virgil in 1924, Marcella in 1937. (Note: Marcella's given death year is an obvious newspaper error.) His parents and two grandsons also preceded him. The six surviving children are three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Schute, Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Irene Freese of Jefferson township, and Katherine at home; three sons, Morrell of Clayton township, and Eugene and Donald at home, Four grandchildren and also four sisters and three brothers, besides a host of other relatives and friends, who will long remember his kind deeds and words.

He attended the Lutheran church at Clayton and also was a faithful member of the A.F. & A.M. lodge at Garnavillo.

At the time of his death he was employed at the Landworthy Sand Co. Previous to this he was a telegrapher on the Milwaukee Railroad. He was also cashier of the Clayton Savings Bank for eight years.

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon from the Lutheran church. Burial was made at Clayton. The funeral was largely attended.
