Clayton County Register, 25 Nov. 1936.
Harold Cook, 38, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Cook, hanged himself early Saturday forenoon during a fit of moroseness.
Harold and his father had gone out into the farm yard at 8:30 to do the chores. Harold had been asked by his father to fix a fence where hogs had broken through, while he, the father, would feed the hogs.
Harold gathered some staples, some wire and a hammer and went into the corn crib on the place. There he took some telephone wire, fastened it about a 2x6 joist and then around his neck. From the position in which his body was found no less than thirty minutes later, he had jumped from this joist.
His father, who came to the crib for some corn for the hogs, found the body, still warm, swinging from the joist.
Coroner Leslie Oelke was called to the scene at once but Mr. Oelke stated later Saturday forenoon that no inquest will be held.
Harold is survived by his father and mother, a son and one sister.
