John Martin Osborne, son of Thomas Osborne and his wife Elizabeth (nee Ribble) was born May 20, 1861, in the Dominion of Canada. The deceased was married Dec. 12, 1892, to Miss Mary Bowman. He spent his entire married life in this home with the exception of one year. He was an industrious, hard working man.
Eight years ago he took ill and with the care of his wife and a nurse recovered. The last two years he had been ailing, and the intense heat of the last summer weakened him so that he was unable to withstand the illness he felt coming on. A nurse was in attendance and all was done to strengthen him and ease him but to no avail. He died Nov. 03, 1936, at 1:20 a.m. He reached the age of 75 years, five months and 13 days.
He is survived by his aged wife; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Cochran, Belleville, Ill., Mrs. Storbeck, Strawberry Point, Mrs. Chas. Sturm, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Albert Debes, Osborne; two brothers Thomas, Osborne and William of Minnesota. A brother Robert and sister Jane preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the home of the deceased at 1:30 p.m. and at the Hope Lutheran church, Littleport, at 2 p.m. Burial was at the Community cemetery, Communia. The Rev. F. E. Damm officiated.
