William Thyne departed this life Sept. 25, 1936, at the family residence in Cox Creek, after a very short illness.
Mr. Thyne was born March 10, 1884 on a farm near Volga City. He lived there during his early youth and later on the farm where he died.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Bernes June 01, 1915, and to this union four children, Kathleen, Ilene, Mildred and William Junior, were born. They are all living at home.
Besides his wife and children he is survived by four brothers, Bob of Littleport, Emmet of Volga City, Walter of Edgewood, and Austin of Strawberry Point; six sisters, Mrs. Jenny Behrens, of Dubuque, Mrs. Anna Mullen of Oelwein, Mrs. John Wiley of Edgewood, Mrs. J. D. Cartnedge of Strawberry Point, and Miss Josephine of Strawberry Point, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held Monday morning from the family residence at Cox Creek at 8:45 a.m. to the Sacred Heart church, Cox Creek, at 9 o'clock. The Rev. Father Boyle, pastor of the church, officiated throughout the services. Burial was made in the Sacred Heart cemetery at Cox Creek.
Casket bearers were: Joseph McTaggart, Bryan Farmer, Dewey Farmer, Edward Quinn, Floyd Dittmer, and William Kenneally.
