Phillip Curran one of the pioneers of Volga township died at his home Saturday. Mr. Curran was 82 years old and for many years was a prominent man in township and county affairs. He leaves many friends to mourn his death. The funeral was held Monday from St. Michael's church, Rev. Goetzinger officiating.

Phillip Curran, 79, one of the Pioneers of Volga township, died at his home Saturday morning, September 26, after a year's illness from heart trouble.
The funeral was held Monday from St. Michael's church at Garber. Rev. Goetzinger officiated. Burial was made at the Elkader cemetery.
He was born on the farm where he died in Volga township on April 06, 1857. He attended the rural schools there and grew to manhood, was a prominent man in the county and township affairs. Jan. 06, 1891, at the age of 34 years, he was married to Mary Quinlan.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Mary Curran; five children, Francis Curran, Green Island, Iowa, Mrs. Fred Fink, Aurora, Ia., Viola Curran, Chicago, Ill. Sylvester and Vera at home; also four grandchildren, Mrs. Lloyd Pauli, Green Island, Lyle Curran, Francis Curran, Jr., Joe Fink, and one great-grandson, Lloyd Pauli, Jr.
