Clayton County Register, 12 Aug. 1936. Farmersburg column.

Mrs. Mary Christine Caroline Drallmeier, nee Mandelkow, was born April 20, 1854, in Primen, Anklam, Germany. On April 30 she was brought to God in Holy Baptism. At the proper age she was instructed in the Word of God and confirmed by Rev. Seifert in the Lutheran church of Clayton Center.

As a small child of seven years Mrs. Drallmeier came to America with her parents. They traveled in a sail boat, spending some six weeks on the water. Upon arriving in America, they came to Iowa and settled in Clayton county.

While at home she helped, not only with housework, but due to the failing health of her father, she spent considerable time helping with the work in the field.

On Feb. 22, 1877, she was united in marriage with Wm. Drallmeier at Prairie du Chien, Wis. Two years later she, together with her husband, settled on the farm in Clayton County, Iowa, which was to continue to be her home until the time of her death.

This union was blessed with nine children: Henry and Louis, Mrs. Ernest Haltmeyer, Mrs. Morris Sullivan, Mrs. John Baade, Arthur, Mrs. Charles Behm, Ed and Elmer.

A broken hip, together with feebleness, hindered Mrs. Drallmeier in her declining years. At the time of the death of her husband she was at the point of death, but recovered under the untiring care of her children. On July 03 she suffered a broken leg. She was finally taken by death on Thursday evening, August 06, shortly after ten o'clock.

She reached the age of 82 years, three months and 17 days.

Mrs. Drallmeier was a member of the Frauen Verein of this church.

She leaves to mourn her nine children: Henry and Louis Drallmeier of McGregor; Mrs. Ernest Haltmeyer of Farmersburg; Mrs. Morris Sullivan of West Union; Mrs. John Baade of Farmersburg; Arthur Drallmeier of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Charles Behm of Cleveland; Ed. Drallmeier of Farmersburg; and Elmer Drallmeier of Monona. Twenty-three grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, also survive. All of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
