Clayton County Register, 22 July 1936.

GUTTENBERG: Mrs. John Frye (nee Nancy Ella Remy). pioneer resident of this community, passed away at her home in Cayton township on last ______ ______ at the age of 74 years, eight months and 22 days. She had been in failing heath for some time previous to her death. Mrs. Frye was born at Beetown, Wis., on October 23, 1861, later coming to Clayton county, Iowa, to reside. She was married to John Frye. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. William Kitto of Potosi, Wis., Mrs. Ben Jost and Mrs. John Brown, Clayton township; one son, Edwin Frye, Clayton township; a number of grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, the Rev. C. A. Jacobi officiating. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery here.
