Clayton County Register, 22 July 1936.

GUTTENBERG: Mrs. Marie Courtian passed away at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. J. C. Tunicliffe, here on Tuesday evening of last week, at the age of 84 years. The prevailing intense heat was the major factor in her passing. Mrs. Courtian was born in France, later coming to America, and residing at Davenport for a number of years. For the past year she had been a resident of Guttenberg, making her home with her granddaughter. Her husband and children all preceded her in death. She is survived by a number of grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Catholic church. The body was taken to Davenport for burial, where the funeral was held Thursday.
