Funeral services for Mrs. L. A. Oldham were held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Minnie Swisher, of Garber, July 07, at 2 p.m., conducted by L. H. Brandt of Garnavillo.
Violettie Jane Hansel, daughter of John W. and Nancy Jane Hansel, was born Feb. 08, 1876, near Garber, and died July 05, 1936, at the age of 60 years, four months and 27 days. On March 15, 1899, she was united in marriage to Llewelin Arthur Oldham, who with two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Patric and Mrs. Minnie Swisher, and two brothers, Lyman and William, mourn her death. The only child, a daughter, born to this union, preceded her in death 18 years ago. Early in life she became a member of the United Brethren church.
When her friends and dear companion
Never more her face shall see
In her old accustomed place,
They will grieve and say with me,
"She is gone but not forgotten."
Never shall her memory fade,
Sweetest thought shall ever linger
Round her noble life and grave.
