Claton County register, 15 July 1936.

Miss Amanda Lydia Carolina Harnack was born January 15, 1888, in Farmersburg township, Clayton county, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Harnack. On the 27th of May, 1888, she was baptized by Rev. Sommerlad. Through baptism God makes us His children and heirs of everlasting life.

Due to the mental condition of Amanda Harnack, she continued to make her home with her parents, also remaining with her father after the death of her mother. Finally, however, it was found necessary to take her to the state hospital at Independence, Iowa. Here she remained until the time of her death Saturday morning, July 11, having reached the age of 48 years, five months and 25 days. Her death was caused by her mental condition and her age.

She leaves to mourn two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Geo. Wilker, Chas. Harnack, Mrs. Wm. Buckman and Geo. Harnack.

May she rest in peace and the eternal light shine.
