Funeral services for Alfred William Borrett were conducted at his home at Garber, Friday, June 27, Rev. Knight officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Harmony.
Alfred William Borrett was born in London, England, March 24, 1845. He came to America at the age of nine years, and after living in New York for a period of about one year, he came with his family to Clayton county, where he spent the greater part of his life. On Aug. 28, 1870, he married Sarah Jane Foote. To this union were born seven children, five boys and two girls. They also had one adopted daughter. In 1889 he joined the Methodist Episcopal church, transferring to the United Brethren in Christ at Fairview in 1918. His wife, two sons, Harry and Lester, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, Wm. J. of Turkey River, George H. and James I., both of Garber; three daughters, Mrs. Rosa Hansel of Garber, Mrs. Grace Barnhart of Colesburg, and Mrs. Kate Nichols of Waterville; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
