MONONA: Charles Frederick Kuester was born Dec. 16, 1861, in Uhling, Pomerania, Germany. In 1882 he came to America and settled in Linton township, Allamakee county, Iowa. He was married to Miss Anna Levenhagen in 1895, and to this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy. Those surviving him are Elsie, Adolph, Hugo, Alma and Melinda, all of this vicinity.
Mr. Kuester had been in poor health for more than a year, and last week was taken to the Community hospital in Postville, where he died Saturday, June 13, at the age of 74 years. His wife preceded him in death last January. For many years they were members of the Evangelical church at Watson. Surviving him are five children, seven grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 130 Tuesday afternoon from the home and at 2:00 from the Evangelical church in Monona, Rev. W. L. Zeller in charge of the services, speaking in German and English languages. Burial was made in the Council Hill cemetery beside his wife.
