STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Waring were held at the M.E. church Sunday afternoon, May 31, Rev. James P. Gable in charge. Music was furnished by Dr. R. W. Dutton, Eldon Strafford, Mrs. B. W. Talcott and Mrs. Kenneth Esch. the pall bearers were: Elmer Scheckel, Fay Donaldson, Albert Moser, Elwin Sargent, Hans Baumgartner and August Gipper. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
Katherine Jane Homewood, daughter of Henry and Minnie Homewood, was born May 05, 1894, at Fayette, Iowa. It was there she grew to womanhood and received her education. After attending the Upper Iowa University, she taught a number of terms in the rural schools of Fayette and Clayton counties. In 1912 the family moved from Fayette to what is known as the Thomas Alderson farm two miles west of town. She was united in marriage to Herman Waring on Feb. 12, 1918. To this union three children were born. A son, Paul, passed away in November, 1924, and Mr. Waring May 09, 1931. Surviving are two daughters, Hermiene and Anna Belle, and two sisters and one brother, Amy Homewood of Minneapolis, Henrietta Homewood, a teacher at Jesup, and Richard Homewood of Strawberry Point, and a large circle of friends.
