Mrs. Frank Hofer, a former resident of Elkader, died at the home of her daughter in Osage, Iowa, on May 30th, after she had been in failing health for about a year.
Adeline Meyer was born February 13, 1866, here in Elkader and spent most of her life here. On November 25, 1885, she was united in marriage to Frank Hofer, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1906.
In the fall of 1914 she moved to Mason City, where she made her home until April of this year, at which time she moved to the home of her daughter in Osage.
She leaves to mourn her death two children, namely, Mrs. W. A. Fritz of Osage and Ray F. Hofer of Mason City besides three grandchildren.
The body was brought to Elkader a week ago Sunday and the following day, at nine o'clock services were held from St. Joseph's church with burial in the St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rev. J. P. Taken officiating.
Mrs. Hofer will be remembered by many Register readers as a loving mother and a kind and true neighbor and friend.
Relatives from out of town who attended services were: Otto Hartman, Wm. Alitz, Mrs. Richard Burgraff, Arthur Fritz, all of Mason City; Wm. Fritz, Leo Fritz, Dorothy Fritz of Osage, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Bear of Shannon, Ill.
