GUTTENBERG: Mrs. Louis H. Beerman, nee Mathilda Mueller, life-long resident of this community, passed away at her home in Guttenberg on Sunday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock, at the age of 70 years, ten months and 16 days, following an illness of long duration. Mrs. Beerman was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, on June 10, 1865, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mueller, both deceased, pioneer residents of this community. On April 10, 1888, she was married here to Louis H. Beerman. After their marriage the couple settled in Guttenberg, where she spent the rest of her life. For many years she was successfully engaged as a seamstress and dressmaker, and during that time she taught 306 apprentices the skill in her line of work. She was a faithful member of St. John's Ladies' Aid society, of Guttenberg. Her death is mourned by her husband, one son, Ewald Beerman, of Webster City; three daughters, Mrs. Hilda Strong, of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Lydia Overbeck of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Rose Newhouse of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and William Mueller, of Jefferson township; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Tieke, of Elkader, and many other relatives. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's American Lutheran church on Wednesday afternoon, with interment in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended.
