Clayton County Register, 22 Apr. 1936.

MCGREGOR: Funeral services for Michael Carroll, 63, of near McGregor, were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in McGregor Friday, April 17, 1936. Rev. J. J. Horsfield officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Carroll's death came as a shock to his relatives and friends, as he was stricken suddenly by paralysis while working in his barn about seven o'clock in the morning, and died that afternoon. He was born on a farm on Pleasant Ridge near Monona, June 29, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Carroll. For a number of years he was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad as a bridge carpenter. About six years ago he retired and has been farming since in the Summit Hill neighborhood. He is survived by one brother, J. F. Carroll of Monona and two sisters, the Misses Nora and Margaret Carroll, who lived with him on the home farm, and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Sister Mary Winifred, died only two months ago. Two brothers and another sister preceded him in death.
