Mrs. J. J. Kauffman, a former resident of Elkader, died in her home in Chicago last Monday at the age of 85 years, of old age.
Her body was brought to Guttenberg where services were held in the Masonic Temple and then it was taken to the Bolsinger cemetery, near Colesburg, for burial.
She is survived by three children as follows: Mrs. George Wolf of Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Charles Blume of Turkey River; and J. L. Kauffman of Chicago.

Susan Segraves, Mrs. J. J. Kauffman, former Guttenberg resident, passed away at her home in Chicago, Ill., Monday, at the age of 85 years, six months and three days.
She was born at Plattville, Wis., where she grew to womanhood. Sixty-four years ago she was married at Cassville, Wis., to Mr. J. J. Kauffman, who preceded her in death on August 29, 1920.
Previous to going to Chicago she had resided at Millville, Colesburg, Elkader, Arlington and Madison, Wis.
In addition to those previously named she was survived by two sisters: Mrs. Nora Spencer of Lancaster, Wis., and Mrs. Eva Lake of Wabash, Ind.; and one brother, Daniel Segraves, of Schenectady, N.Y.
