Simon Willmes, 56, died last Saturday as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident when the car in which he was riding last Friday evening went into the ditch and turned over near the Gus Sabbann farm, east of Clayton Center. Simon's backbone was fractured in the accident and he was taken to Rochester, Minn., for examination. He died at Froelich, while enroute home.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church here yesterday forenoon and burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Mr. Willmes is survived by his wife, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.

Simon Willmes, whose funeral was held here last week Tuesday, was born in this township March 29, 1880, and died March 28, 1936, following an automobile accident. He had reached the age of 55 years, 11 months and 29 days.
The deceased spent practically all his life on the farm about three and one-half miles north of Elkader.
July 14, 1921, in Dubuque, he was united in marriage with Isabelle Greiner, and to this union one daughter, Marie, was born. She, together with the widow, survives, as do two brothers and one sister, as follows: D. F. Willmes, Elkader; P. J. Willmes, Panora, Iowa, and Miss Kate Willmes, Elkader.
His parents, John and Mary Willmes, preceded him in death, the father in 1884 and the mother in 1922.
Funeral services were conducted in St. Joseph's church here and interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rev. J. P. Taken officiating.
Among those listed as attending the funeral from afar were: Mrs. John B. Greiner, son and daughter, of Luxemburg; Leo Greiner, Hopkinton.
