Mrs. Mary Feeney died March 09, 1936, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter A. Dunn, as the result of heart trouble with which she had been suffering for about three years.

Mary (Madden) Feeney was born on a farm near Littleport in Cox Creek township on Feb. 22, 1871, the daughter of Thomas and Ellen Madden. She was united in the holy bonds of wedlock with J. L. Feeney, who preceded her in death.

Nine children were born to this union, six surviving. They are: Matt and Francis who live on a farm near Elkader; John, who lives on a farm near Lynxville, Wis.; Mrs. Peter A. Dunn and Mrs. Joe Cox, of Elkader; and Mrs. Frank Cox of Volga. Two children died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. W. J. Dunn, died April 17, 1931. Six grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Feeney was a quiet, home-loving woman; a kind neighbor esteemed by all who knew her. She was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic church here and a member of the Rosary Society and Christian Mothers and Daughters. The deceased reached the age of 64 years and 13 days.

Funeral services were held this morning at St. Joseph's church where a solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by her pastor, the Rev. J. P. Taken. Her pallbearers were: Joe Cunningham, John Roach, E. A. Buringame, D. J. Raftis, L. M. Bink and M. J. Roach.
