Clayton County Register, 11 Mar. 1936.

Guttenberg: Mrs. G. H. Niemeyer (nee Francisca Hoffman) passed away at her home here on Wednesday morning of last week at 7:00 o'clock, at the age of 81 years and 28 days, following a short illness. The cause of her death was due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Niemeyer was born in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany, on Feb. 06, 1855, where she received her early education and grew to young womanhood. When 18 years old she came to America with her father, and after living at Chicago and St. Louis for a short time, she came to Guttenberg, where the remainder of her life was spent. Her mother died when she was a small child. Mrs. Niemeyer was a faithful member of the Catholic church. To know her was to like and respect her. On June 26, 1877, she was married at Guttenberg to G. H. Niemeyer, who preceded her in death on May 06, 1921. Mr. Niemeyer was one of Guttenberg's pioneer business men, being successfully engaged here in the tailoring and clothing business for many years. Mrs. Niemeyer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. D. S. West, of Moulton, Iowa, and Oscar Niemeyer, of Guttenberg; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends. One son, Edward, and two daughters, Mrs. Clara Trumm and Mrs. Delia Heitman, preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. A. Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church here on Friday morning, with interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends.
