Clayton County Register, 29 Jan. 1936.
Funeral services were held last week Monday, at Clayton Centre, for Charles Seeland, who had died Friday, January 17, at the age of 55 years, three months and nine days.
Charles Henry Fred Seeland was born October 8th, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Seeland, in Boardman township. October 6th, 1895, he was united in marriage with Sofia Kruse and to this union four children were born; namely, Harley, Hilda, Harold and Helen. These, together with the widow, survive, as do also three brothers and one sister. They are: Henry Seeland of Boardman township, Mrs. Chas. Gottschalk, St. Olaf; Wlliam Seeland of Wagner township and Louis Seeland of Boardman township. He also leaves a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends.
Mr. Seeland was devoted to his church; a man, although conservative, was also progressive; a willing worker, a devoted husband and father, a kindly neighbor and a true friend. Those who knew him best will miss him most.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral services were John Kruse of Minneapolis, brother of Mrs. Seeland, and Herman Stowfand, of Hartford, S.D., cousin of Mrs. Seeland.
