Funeral services will be held tomorrow, January 30th, for Mrs. Elmer Dill, who died at her home in this township on Saturday, January 25th, from cancer, after an illness of about five months.
Mrs. Dill (Mary Maria Carpenter) was born March 27, 1875, the daughter of William and Anna Carpenter, here in Clayton county. All of her life, with the exception of the time she lived in Mason City, was spent in this county. In 1930 she returned to Clayton county and with her family settled on a farm in this township.
In 1892 she was united in marriage with Elmer Dill, and to this union eight children were born, as follows: Mrs. Charles Stendel, Elkader; Mrs. Raymond Reynolds, Mason City; Mrs. Oscar Hill, Rockford, Ill.; Elmer Dill, Jr., Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. Robert Anderson, Rockford, Ill.; Leon Dill, Rockford, Ill.; Leota Dill, Chicago, and Elsie, at home. Besides the husband and eight children, the deceased is survived by 24 grandchildren and two sisters and two brothers. The sisters are: Mrs. Homer Dill, Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. John Lent, Quinby, Iowa; (The brothers are) William Carpenter, Manchester, and Charles Carpenter, Edgewood.
Interment will be made in the Cox Creek cemetery with the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. The pallbearers will be Henry Meyer, Alf. Schneider, A. A. Schultz, Frank Wacker, Charles Meyer and M. Miller.
