MUELLER, BENTE, ORTMANN, LINDEMANN

Elkader Register, Thur., 19 Dec. 1912.

Johann Friedrich Mueller passed away at 1 o'clock Sunday morning, Dec. 15, 1912, having reached the advanced age of 82 years and one month. His death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Bente, in Read township.

Deceased was born on Nov. 15, 1830 in Manitz, Mecklenburg and was married in Griebow to Miss Dorris Ortmann in 1864. Nine years later he and his family emigrated to America and settled in Clayton county, where they have since made their home. After the children, one after the other, had married and established homes of their own Mr. and Mrs. Mueller have made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bente in Read township, where deceased has always assisted with the farm work, until the last few months, when he was obliged to stop on account of deceased vitality incident to old age.

He was given the best of care by his wife and children but his day had come and he closed his eyes in sleep, thus ending an honorable and faithful life.

He leaves to mourn his death, his faithful wife, two sons and two daughters, viz: Fritz, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Charles, of Elkader; Mrs. Ida Bente, of Read township, and Mrs. Agnes Lindemann, of Boardman township. One of the children preceded the father in death. He also leaves 22 grandchildren and two brothers, who reside in the old country, besides many friends and acquaintances to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held at the home and in the German church on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 17th, Rev. Franke officiating. Interment in the East Side cemetery. May he rest in peace.
