Elizabeth Claus was born December 04th, 1835, at New Orleans, La. Later the family moved to St. Louis, Mo., where Elizabeth was united in marriage to Peter Klink, September 03rd, 1855. For the next seven years they made St. Louis their home, when in 1862 they came north and settled in Cox Creek township, Clayton County, Iowa, where they have lived ever since. Eleven children were born to them, of which two, Herman and Peter, died in infancy.
On September 03rd, 1905, Mr. and Mrs. Klink celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
For a number of years Mrs. Klink has been in poor health, yet she received the best care from her beloved ones until she was relieved of all earthly sufferings on Monday, August 12th, at 2:30 in the afternon at the ripe old age of 76 years, 8 months and 8 days. She leaves to mourn her death the grief stricken husband, Peter Klink, 6 daughters and 3 sons: Lena, Augusta and Otto, of Maynard, Iowa; Emma and Henry, of Chicago, Ill.; Anna, of Beldon, Nebr.; Louis, Louisa and Bertha, of Cox Creek township. Besides those named her death is mourned by 42 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon, at 1:00 o'clock at the home in Cox Creek township, and at 2:30 p.m. at the German church in Elkader, Rev. Franke officiating. Interment in the East Side cemetery.
