Elkader Register, Thur., 11 July 1912.

Lena Eberhart, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Minnie Eberhart, was born in Volga township December 08th, 1885. She lived on the farm until the death of her father which took place March 11th, 1899, when the family, consisting of herself and mother, moved to Elkader, which has been their home ever since.

On June 05th, 1907, she was married to Alfred L. Hover, this union proving a very happy one. She has been a patient sufferer since last September, but never has a word of complaint been uttered by her; always cheerful and bright, looking at the more hopeful things in life.

As a Christian her faith was implicit, proving her trust in the power of God, ever ready to accept His leading. This characteristic was especially notable and while ready at any time to go into the presence of God, yet she was willing and wanted to live, not for herself, but for the sake of her loved ones whom she felt needed her presence and inspiration. Hers was a noble fight against overwhelming odds to which she succumbed only after a heroic struggle July 05th, at 9:15 p.m. All that physicians and trained nurses, as well as loving hands could do, proved unavailing.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, the cortege leaving the house and proceeding to the Congregational church where services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. G. Heddon, using the text II Timothy 4; 6-8, the choir rendering appropriate music and interment taking place in the East Side cemetery.

There remains to mourn her youthful departure, besides her husband and mother, four uncles and two aunts, besides several other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lemke, relatives of deceased, and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Odekirk, friends, of Maynard, Iowa, and Miss Lillian Hover, of Minneapolis, Minn., a sister of Mr. Hover, attended the funeral.

"Her life was a beautiful story,
A life psalm, a few glad years,
We lay it away in the silence
With a memory of smiles not tears."
