Elkader Register, Thur., 08 Feb. 1912. Volga column.
Friday afternoon, Feb. 02nd, the little daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Bear quietly fell asleep in the arms of her mamma to awake safely in the "Arms of Jesus." Little Marguerite was a dainty little baby and came to their home when two weeks old. No one could have lavished more love and care than was given her, but so frail was the little one that love and care could not keep her. Saturday at 10 o'clock friends assembled at the parsonage. Rev. Jennings offered prayer and the choir sang "Precious Jewels." Four little boys carried the little white casket and with six little girls, playmates of Lydia, as pall bearers. The friends went to the depot as the train left bearing them away, "We'll never say good-bye in Heaven" was sung. The interment was at Cedar Rapids, Monday. The parents and little sister have the sympathy of our city.
Two little hands upon her breast
Two little feet laid down to rest,
Now are still and silent for aye,
Angels have beckoned our darling away.
Up in the mansions so bright and fair,
Up above the golden stair.
One little voice is singing to me,
Yes, we will be waiting and watching for
thee.
